Vegas: two scores become one team number.

Vegas combines both partners’ scores into a number, then compares the two teams. A small change in strokes can create a much larger change in game points.

Combine the scores, then compare

Four players form two teams of two. Each player records their own strokes. For ordinary single-digit scores, place the lower score first: a 3 and a 6 become 36. Compare that number with the other team’s number; the lower one wins the difference.

This concatenation is also described in TheGrint’s explanation of its Vegas format. House rules and app options differ. The examples here use TeeLab’s actual-strokes format, with no net-score adjustment, birdie-triggered reversal or extra multiplier for an eagle.

Three holes with fixed partners

Alice and Bob play Chris and Dana. They use a game unit of 1 and keep the same partners for all three selected holes.

Vegas example: each partner’s strokes and team number
HoleAlice / BobChris / DanaChange per A/B player
13 / 6 → 364 / 5 → 45+9
25 / 4 → 454 / 5 → 450
310 / 3 → 1036 / 6 → 66−37

On hole 1, 45 − 36 = 9. Alice and Bob each gain 9 game points; Chris and Dana each lose 9. Hole 2 ties. On hole 3, 103 − 66 = 37, so Chris and Dana each gain 37 and the opposing players each lose 37.

Final game-point changes: Alice −28, Bob −28, Chris +28, Dana +28.

The team-number total and the game-point change are different records. Do not add the two partners’ identical changes and treat that as one player’s result.

What happens at 10 strokes or more?

If either partner scores 10 or more, TeeLab places the higher score first before joining the complete scores. A 10 and a 3 become 103, not 310 and not 13. If both scores have two digits, an 11 and a 10 become 1110.

The large resulting difference is part of this format. It is not a typo or a ten-point cap. A birdie still counts as the strokes actually recorded; it does not trigger an extra switch of the opponents’ number in TeeLab.

Fixed teams or rotating partners

TeeLab requires exactly four players. Fixed teams keep the two chosen pairs throughout the game. In rotating mode, the first pairing is random. After that, the previous hole’s best and worst players become partners against the middle two.

If the previous hole has tied scores, earlier completed-hole results resolve their order; the initial draw order resolves any remaining tie. Game-point changes belong to each player based on the team they played on for that hole. Rotating mode therefore does not create two permanent team totals.

Ties, units and incomplete scores

Equal combined numbers produce zero change for everyone on that hole. Nothing carries forward to the next hole. At the end, equal results remain tied rather than being automatically resolved by a playoff.

The game unit multiplies the difference. A 9-point difference with unit 2 gives each winning-side player +18 and each losing-side player −18. The default unit is 1.

Record all four scores on each selected hole. A missing partner score leaves the calculation pending; it is not replaced with the other partner’s score or with par. Vegas in TeeLab uses actual whole-number strokes and does not offer custom stroke allowances.

These games can run in personal rounds without club credits. Optional club credits are internal numerical records with no monetary value, not purchases, cash or redeemable rewards. Their use requires platform-granted advanced club eligibility, president activation and an event consisting entirely of that club’s members. Read the terms.
