Quota: compare your round with your own target.

The largest points total does not always win. Quota compares how far each player finishes above—or below—their own agreed target.

Points minus target: the essential calculation

First convert each completed hole into points. Then subtract the player’s target, or quota, from their total points. The highest difference leads. If everyone finishes below target, the least negative difference is best.

Quota schedules vary. The Central New York PGA’s published Pro-Am system, for example, uses its own points schedule, team limits and quota adjustments. Those event-specific rules are not automatically part of TeeLab’s Quota.

TeeLab uses a shared points table and individually entered targets. It does not automatically calculate a target from a handicap, change next week’s quota or cap a player’s team contribution. Its Quota mode is individual play.

The default points schedule

TeeLab’s default awards 2 points for par, 3 for a birdie, 4 for an eagle and 1 for a bogey. Three under par earns 5; four under or better earns 6. Double bogey and worse earn zero. The organizer can edit the shared table before play.

This is the same starting schedule described in the Stableford guide. The extra step in Quota is subtracting a personal target. TeeLab does not apply stroke allowances or individual points-table overrides in Quota; everyone uses actual recorded strokes and the same table.

A three-player example with a tied lead

Alice, Bob and Chris play three selected par-4 holes. They agree on targets of 4, 3 and 6 points respectively for this short game, rather than keeping a full-round target.

Quota example: strokes → default table points
HoleAliceBobChris
14 → 25 → 14 → 2
23 → 34 → 25 → 1
35 → 14 → 25 → 1
Total points654
Personal target436
Points minus target+2+2−2

Alice has more raw points than Bob, but both beat their own target by 2, so they tie. TeeLab’s separate game-point changes compare every pair of players’ differences. Alice and Bob have zero difference against each other; each is 4 ahead of Chris.

Game-point changes: Alice +4, Bob +4, Chris −8. Quota differences: Alice +2, Bob +2, Chris −2.

Ties, short rounds and pending holes

Equal differences remain tied; TeeLab does not automatically break the tie using gross strokes, the back nine or a playoff. A tied comparison contributes zero to the two players’ game-point changes.

New Quota games start with a target of 36 for every player. That is a starting setting, not a calculated personal quota. Review it for each golfer and for the number of selected holes. Selecting fewer holes does not automatically reduce targets.

A missing score leaves the game pending. It is not a zero-point double bogey. TeeLab records the final pairwise Quota result only after the selected holes have complete participant scores; a provisional points total should not be mistaken for a finished result.

Set up Quota in TeeLab

  1. Select 2–100 individual participants and all course holes or a selected set.
  2. Review the shared points table. Explain any change from the default schedule.
  3. Enter each player’s target for this game before play starts.
  4. Record strokes or score to par once per hole; review points, target differences and game-point changes separately.

Choose Stableford to compare point totals without targets. Choose Skins if the group wants to reward outright low holes instead.

These games can run in personal rounds without club credits. Optional club credits are internal numerical records with no monetary value, not purchases, cash or redeemable rewards. Their use requires platform-granted advanced club eligibility, president activation and an event consisting entirely of that club’s members. Read the terms.
